Process crash via malformed sparse tensors
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
Null pointer dereference in TensorFlow before 2.11.1 allows remote attackers to crash a process through malformed SparseSparseMaximum inputs. SparseSparseBinaryOpShared performs only partial shape checks before processing inconsistent sparse indices, values, and ranks; the patch adds full sparse-tensor validation before processing. An attacker must be able to submit tensors to the raw operation through a TensorFlow-using application, and exploitation interrupts only that hosting process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
