Authenticated interface text manipulation via unrestricted dictionaries
Published Feb 23, 2023 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
Privilege escalation in Apache Sling i18n 2.5.18 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter application interface text. The i18n module accepts dictionaries from any repository location writable by a content author and applies their translations across the product. Content-author access is sufficient to relabel dialogs and controls, enabling deceptive actions such as disguising a delete button.
