CVE-2023-25611Network attack vector

Command execution via unneutralized CSV macro names

Published Mar 7, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024

CSV formula injection in Fortinet FortiAnalyzer 6.4.0 through 6.4.9, 7.0.0 through 7.0.5, and 7.2.0 through 7.2.1 allows attackers to run commands. CSV export fails to neutralize formula-leading characters in attacker-controlled macro names, so spreadsheet software interprets the exported cells as formulas. A privileged user must insert the crafted name, and another user must open the exported CSV in a spreadsheet; execution then occurs in that spreadsheet user's context.
