Unauthorized privileged actions via arbitrary-origin API trust
Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 30, 2024
Permissive cross-domain policy handling in Fortinet FortiADC and FortiDDoS-F allows remote attackers to read data and perform privileged actions. Their APIs trust arbitrary web origins, allowing a site opened in a user's browser to issue cross-origin requests and read responses that the same-origin policy should block. Exploitation requires user interaction but no appliance account for the attacker; successful requests expose sensitive information and permit privileged actions without interrupting service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=6.3.0 <=6.3.4
- Affected versionversion=6.4.0 <=6.4.1
