CVE-2023-25567Network attack vector

Service crash via unchecked NTLM attribute lengths

Published Feb 14, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in GSS-NTLMSSP before 1.2.0 allows remote attackers to crash NTLM-authenticating services via crafted target information. The ntlm_decode_target_info function copies MSV_AV_TIMESTAMP and MSV_AV_FLAGS values at fixed destination sizes without first ensuring that each av_pair supplies enough bytes. Exposure requires an application to pass an attacker-controlled NTLM token to gss_accept_sec_context; a short attribute can read unmapped memory and terminate that service.
