CVE-2023-25561Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authentication bypass via swallowed JAAS configuration errors

Published Feb 10, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025

Authentication bypass in DataHub before 0.8.45 allows remote attackers to log in as any user with any password when JAAS is misconfigured. The authenticateJaasUser method converts only LoginException into authentication failure, while its catch-all block swallows other exceptions such as configuration-driven IOException and lets login continue. Exposure requires JAAS authentication with an erroneous configuration; successful access assumes the chosen user's privileges and does not itself interrupt service.
