Privilege escalation via improper buffer restrictions
Published May 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025
Improper buffer restrictions in Intel Server Board BMC firmware before 2.90 allow local users to escalate privileges. Intel has not disclosed the affected buffer, the input that reaches it, or the incorrect operation performed on that input. Exploitation requires existing high privileges and local access to an affected M50CYP or D50TNP family board, and the result grants privileges beyond the attacker's existing authority.
