Subscriber-to-administrator takeover via unchecked switch cookie
Published Jun 6, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in Iqbal Rony WP User Switch 1.0.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to assume any existing account. The wpus_allow_user_to_admin_bar_menu function trusts the wpus_who_switch cookie when selecting the account without correctly authenticating the requested switch. Subscriber-level access and knowledge of a username are sufficient to assume that account, including an administrator account.
