Authenticated script execution via unsanitized contact names
Published May 23, 2023 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Stored XSS in CiviCRM for WordPress 5.58.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in another user's browser. The Quick Add widget stores unneutralized first- or last-name input from a new contact and renders it as HTML in the dashboard's Recently Added view. Exploitation requires the access CiviCRM backend privilege and a second user to load that view, enabling script execution in that user's browser.
