CVE-2023-25434Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash via out-of-bounds crop-sample copy

Published Jun 14, 2023 · Updated Jan 6, 2025

Heap-buffer over-read in libtiff 4.5.0 tiffcrop allows context-dependent attackers to crash the utility via a crafted TIFF file. The extractContigSamplesBytes function passes an invalid source range to _TIFFmemcpy while extracting crop samples, causing a one-byte read beyond the heap buffer. Exploitation requires a user or automated workflow to process the file with tiffcrop; the public reproducer demonstrates a SIGSEGV, while code execution is not established.
