Administrator takeover via unrestricted account export
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025
Incorrect access control in ATEN PE8108 firmware 2.4.232 allows remote authenticated users to obtain the administrator password. The /xml/accounts.xml endpoint returns all account records, including the cleartext administrator password, to a restricted user's valid session without checking whether that user is authorized to view them. Network access to the web interface and a restricted account are required; the disclosed password grants full PDU control, including the ability to shut down connected equipment.
