Arbitrary file write via unfiltered upload suffix
Published Mar 3, 2023 · Updated Mar 6, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in CleverStupidDog yf-exam 1.8.0 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files through the upload API. The /common/api/file/upload route passes each file through upload(), processPath(), and renameFile(), which directly concatenates an unfiltered suffix into the returned upload path. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the uploaded file is retrievable at that path, limiting the demonstrated consequence to arbitrary file placement and retrieval.
