Permalink changes via optional nonce verification
Published Jul 12, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
CSRF in MetForm 3.3.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to change a WordPress site's permalink structure through a forged request. The permalink_setup function verifies a nonce only when the request supplies one, so omitting the nonce bypasses the intended request-origin check. Exploitation requires an administrator to trigger the forged request, and the resulting settings change can disrupt existing site URLs.
