Privilege escalation in TimescaleDB 2.8.0 through 2.9.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute code as the installation user. Telemetry collection queries run without a locked-down search_path, so attacker-created database functions can be resolved and executed by the telemetry job. Exploitation requires permission to create database objects and a later extension installation by a superuser, unless trusted-extension installation is enabled.
