Admin-level code execution via unbounded GRE source formatting
Published Jul 6, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Milesight UR32L 32.3.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted HTTP request. The set_gre function passes the attacker-controlled local_ip JSON value to sprintf when composing a tunnel source command in a fixed stack buffer. High-privileged web access is required; the published proof of concept crashes vtysh_ubus, while control-flow exploitation executes code.
