Authenticated code execution via unsafe sprintf
Published Jul 6, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Milesight UR32L 32.3.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via HTTP requests. The firewall_handler_set function inserts the user-controlled to_dport value into a fixed vtysh_command_buffer with unbounded sprintf formatting. High-privilege access to the router's /cgi management endpoint is required; a crafted request can crash vtysh_ubus or redirect execution.
