Information disclosure via USD buffer overread
Published May 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 24, 2025
An out-of-bounds read in USD for 3ds Max 0.3 allows context-dependent attackers to disclose process memory through a crafted USD file. The USD parser reads past the end of an allocated buffer when it processes crafted data in the file. Exploitation requires a user to open the file; the read discloses sensitive information and supports code execution only when chained with another vulnerability.
