Code execution via out-of-bounds SPP buffer write
Published Feb 14, 2023 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation before 2201.0006 allows attackers to execute code via a crafted SPP file. The SPP parser writes past the end of an allocated buffer when processing malformed file data, corrupting adjacent process memory. Exploitation requires a user to open the file, after which code runs with the privileges of the current process and the application can crash.
