CVE-2023-24895

Code execution via unsandboxed WPF XAML parsing

Published Jun 14, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025

Remote code execution in affected Microsoft .NET and Visual Studio releases allows attackers to run code through a malicious XPS document. The WPF XAML parser loads and renders the document without a sandbox, allowing untrusted XAML to execute within the hosting process. Exploitation requires a user to open or render the document in a WPF-based application, and successful code runs with that user's privileges.
