Transient modem outage via 5G cell camping
Published Oct 3, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Reachable assertion in Qualcomm Snapdragon modem firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt service while camping on a 5G cell. The modem reaches an internal assertion during 5G cell-camping processing and enters a transient denial-of-service state; Qualcomm has not disclosed the assertion site or triggering field. No authentication or user interaction is required, but the affected modem must attempt to camp on the triggering 5G cell.
