CVE-2023-24828Network attack vector

Administrator takeover via predictable authentication secrets

Published Feb 7, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025

Weak token generation in OneDev before 7.9.12 allows remote authenticated users to obtain administrator privileges via predicted secrets. Access-token and password-reset call sites use RandomStringUtils without a cryptographically secure random source; the patch routes secret generation through SecureRandom. A normal account is sufficient, while enabled self-registration makes the attack reachable without a preexisting account and successful prediction grants administrator control.
