Classpath resource disclosure via unsanitized wildcard paths
Published Feb 9, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Path traversal in Eclipse Foundation Vert.x Web 4.0.0 through 4.3.7 allows remote attackers to read classpath resources. Utils.pathOffset passes the wildcard route segment into resource lookup without converting Windows backslashes or removing dot segments. The application must use a Windows file system and expose StaticHandler on a wildcard route; access is limited to classpath resources.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
