Browser script execution via unchecked preview URLs
Published Feb 22, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Misskey before 13.3.2 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript when a user opens a malicious URL preview. UrlPreviewService accepts non-HTTP(S) summary and player URLs, which MkUrlPreview and MkYoutubePlayer assign to iframe sources without scheme validation. A user must select View in Player or View in Window; the script then runs in the viewing user's browser and can read or alter data available to that client context.
