CVE-2023-24804Public exploit

Internal file read and write via path traversal

Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025

Path traversal in ownCloud Android App before 3.0 allows local attackers to read or write internal app files via crafted share intents. ReceiveExternalFilesActivity accepts attacker-controlled stream URIs and filenames; cache-directory traversal or its file provider bypasses path checks, while savePlainTextToFile joins an unchecked name to the cache path. A victim must process the shared content; writes are limited to .txt files, while reads can expose preferences or logs.
