Authenticated code execution via image-check bypass
Published Mar 6, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in camera_upload.php in PMB 7.4.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted image. The endpoint accepts an attacker-chosen upload_filename and Base64 file content, while its image check accepts files beginning with GIF89a without restricting executable extensions. An authenticated web session is required; a server-processed upload runs attacker-controlled code in the web application's security context.
