Same-origin script execution via unsandboxed EPUB frames
Published Apr 5, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025
Cross-site scripting in ReadiumJS Cloud Reader 0.32.0 allows remote attackers to execute script via a crafted EPUB URL. The reader accepts an absolute URL from the epub query parameter and renders attacker-controlled XHTML through a same-origin Blob URL in an iframe without sandboxing. A reachable Cloud Reader endpoint is sufficient for delivery; the injected script inherits the site origin and can read same-origin data or act through the user session.
