Authenticated command execution via unsanitized password
Published Jul 6, 2023 · Updated Nov 14, 2024
OS command injection in Milesight UR32L 32.3.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through the router console. The modify_user_password path escapes only dollar signs and slashes before placing an attacker-controlled password inside a quoted /usr/sbin/userpermit.sh command passed to system(). Administrative router-console access and an existing non-superuser account are required; successful exploitation runs commands as a privileged user.
