CVE-2023-24590Network attack vector

Memory read and write via format string injection

Published Dec 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Format string injection in Gallagher Controller 6000 firmware 8.50 and earlier and affected 8.60 builds allows remote attackers to read or write memory. The optional diagnostic web interface processes externally controlled text as formatting directives rather than literal data, enabling memory access and controller crashes. The interface must be enabled, and successful exploitation requires user interaction; impact is bounded to memory disclosure, memory modification, or a crash.
