CVE-2023-24545Network attack vector

Traffic forwarding halt via Sfe packet-buffer leak

Published Apr 12, 2023 · Updated Feb 7, 2025

Uncontrolled resource consumption in affected Arista CloudEOS releases allows remote attackers to stop traffic forwarding via malformed packets. The Software Forwarding Engine fails to release buffers while processing the packets, progressively exhausting its forwarding pool. Sfe runs by default on CloudEOS; enough malformed packets halt forwarding without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
