Session cookie theft via unsanitized calendar descriptions

Published Aug 22, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024

Stored XSS in the Special Days component of Pandora FMS 767 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to steal administrators' session cookies. The calendar-entry description accepts JavaScript-bearing markup and later renders it when an administrator hovers over the Special Days information icon. An account able to create a calendar entry and an administrator's interaction are required; successful execution exposes the administrator's session cookie in the browser context.
