Authenticated configuration overwrite via unrestricted gNMI updates
Published Apr 25, 2023 · Updated Feb 3, 2025
Improper access control in Arista Networks TerminAttr allows remote authenticated users to alter arbitrary switch configurations. The gNMI request path accepts crafted update requests from authorized gNMI callers without limiting writes to permitted configuration objects. Exposure requires the agent to be running with external gRPC access enabled; this mode is not the default for CloudVision streaming.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.22.0 <=1.22.1
- Affected versionversion=1.23.0
- Affected versionversion=1.24.0 <=1.24.3
- Affected versionversion=unspecified <=1.19.5
