CVE-2023-24511Network attack vector

Service interruption via crafted SNMP packet memory leak

Published Apr 12, 2023 · Updated Feb 7, 2025

Memory leakage in the snmpd process in affected Arista EOS releases allows remote attackers to interrupt SNMP service with a crafted packet. Arista has not disclosed the exact SNMP parsing locus, but snmpd fails to release memory after processing the crafted packet. SNMP must be configured and snmpd running; sustained exploitation terminates snmpd, causes request timeouts until restart, and exhausts switch memory.
