CVE-2023-24500

Unauthorized firmware installation via missing integrity check

Published Apr 17, 2023 · Updated Feb 6, 2025

Firmware integrity failure in Electra Central AC Unit allows adjacent attackers to install unauthorized firmware over a local connection. The firmware-update mechanism loads downloaded device code without adequately verifying its origin and integrity. An unauthenticated attacker must be adjacent to the unit, and successful exploitation replaces trusted device code with attacker-supplied firmware.
