CVE-2023-24480Network attack vector

Controller crash via malformed CDA error response

Published Jul 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 5, 2025

Stack overflow in Honeywell Experion PKS C300 Controller firmware allows remote attackers to crash the controller through CDA messages. When CDA parsing detects an invalid size or boundary, SendErrorResponse reuses the malformed size data while copying request parts into a stack buffer. Network access is sufficient because legacy CDA lacks authentication, and loss of controller availability can interrupt the controlled process.
