CVE-2023-24474Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unchecked endian conversion size

Published Jul 13, 2023 · Updated Nov 12, 2024

Heap overflow in Honeywell Experion server and station products allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted CDA messages. The CDA server's ntoh library trusts a client-controlled size while reverse-copying endian-sensitive data, allowing a message-buffer write to overwrite static memory containing vtables and global pointers. Network access to the unauthenticated CDA service is sufficient, and successful exploitation grants control of the affected server process or interrupts its operation.
