Credential theft via unchecked form validation requests
Published Jan 24, 2023 · Updated Apr 2, 2025
Missing authorization in Jenkins JIRA Pipeline Steps Plugin 2.0.165.v8846cf59f3db and earlier allows remote authenticated users to steal credentials. Form-validation methods accept an attacker-selected URL and credential ID without checking authorization, then use the stored credential for the outbound connection. Overall/Read permission and prior discovery of a valid credential ID are required; successful exploitation discloses that stored credential.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
