Root shell execution via unchecked urlAdd concatenation
Published Feb 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Command injection in D-Link DIR-816 firmware 1.10CNB04 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through urlAdd. The websURLFilterAddDel handler moves urlAdd through intermediate buffers and appends it to a stack buffer with strcat without checking its length. Network access to the web interface is sufficient; no authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation yields a root shell.
