CVE-2023-24304

Code execution via malformed PDF parsing

Published Mar 28, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025

Memory corruption in IrfanView 4.60 x64 PDF.dll allows attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted PDF file. The optional plugin insufficiently validates PDF data during parsing, producing multiple memory-safety violations; public sources do not identify individual routines or malformed fields. Exploitation requires the separately downloaded and activated PDF.dll plugin and user interaction with an attacker-supplied PDF; successful code runs in the IrfanView process.
