CVE-2023-24291

Process crash via unchecked save-record length

Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

Buffer overflow in Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection before 20230116.5782e29 allows attackers to crash a game via a crafted save file. The save-file record parser accepts an attacker-controlled record length without enforcing the destination buffer's limit, so record data overruns that buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted local file; the grounded evidence supports a process crash, not code execution or data access.
