CVE-2023-2429Public exploit

Authenticated account deletion via email identity collision

Published Apr 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025

Improper access control in phpMyFAQ before 3.1.13 allows local users to delete another user account through profile updates. The profile-update handler in phpmyfaq/ajaxservice.php accepts an email mapped to a different user ID without verifying that identity match. A logged-in account is required; the resulting email collision lets the user submit the victim account for removal, deleting its data and access.
