Application crash via excessive save-state count
Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026
A buffer overrun in Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection before 20230116.5782e29 allows attackers to crash it via a crafted save file. The published records identify an excessive save-state count as the trigger but do not disclose which loader operation overruns its buffer. Opening an attacker-supplied save file is required, and the documented consequence is termination of the local puzzle application.
