CVE-2023-24284

Crash via unchecked saved peg color index

Published Sep 14, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

Buffer overflow in the Guess puzzle before 20230116.5782e29 allows context-dependent attackers to crash it via a crafted save file. decode_ui() accepts saved peg values without checking them against the configured color count, and is_markable() uses each positive value minus one as an index into the color-count buffer. Exploitation requires a victim to load the crafted save file; the Debian package registers no automatic save-file handler.
