Session hijacking via unescaped SVG query parameters
Published Mar 18, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025
Reflected XSS in Squidex before 7.4.0 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a victim's browser through a malicious link. SquidMiddleware inserts the text and background query parameters into the generated /squid.svg response without encoding them as text, permitting injected SVG markup. The endpoint requires no authentication, but a victim must open the crafted URL; execution exposes the CMS token in browser local storage and enables session hijacking.
