Stored script execution via unfiltered video iframe
Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in wangEditor 5 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript when crafted video content is viewed. The video-link handling code in dist/index.js places insufficiently filtered iframe input into stored editor content, permitting an iframe srcdoc payload. An attacker needs editor access to save the crafted content and a user must render it; the script then runs in that viewer's browser context.
