Unauthenticated command execution via unfiltered MQTT version
Published Feb 3, 2023 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
Command injection in TOTOLINK T8 4.1.5cu allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted MQTT packet. The recvSlaveCloudCheckStatus handler fails to filter the packet's version value before using it in command processing, so shell metacharacters and backticks introduce attacker-controlled commands. Exploitation requires network access to the router's open MQTT service on TCP port 1883 and can compromise data and interrupt the device.
