Unauthenticated command execution via traceroute hop injection
Published Feb 3, 2023 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
Command injection in TOTOLINK CA300-PoE firmware 6.2c.884 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a diagnostic request. The setNetworkDiag handler accepts shell operators in the NetDiagTracertHop value posted to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi and uses it in traceroute processing without neutralization. The public proof of concept includes a session cookie, while the published CVSS assessment treats exploitation as unauthenticated; successful exploitation runs attacker-selected commands on the appliance.
