Stored script execution via unsanitized shortcode attributes
Published Apr 4, 2023 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Stored XSS in Social Comments by Heateor 1.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. Shortcode handling fails to sanitize user-supplied attributes and escape them before persistent content is rendered in a page. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and the injected script executes in a visitor’s browser when the stored page is viewed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
