Restricted-data disclosure via unfiltered numerical aggregations
Published Feb 3, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Authorization bypass in OpenSearch Anomaly Detection before 1.3.8 and 2.0.0 through 2.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to read restricted aggregates. The numerical-feature aggregation path returns values such as averages and sums without correctly applying document- and field-level restrictions. Exploitation requires an Anomaly Detector role and prior read access to an index containing the restricted fields; the disclosed values are aggregate data rather than document contents.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
