CVE-2023-23930Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via default Pickle deserialization

Published Oct 11, 2023 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Deserialization of untrusted data in vantage6 before 4.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through crafted task data. Default algorithm wrappers transport task inputs and results as Pickle data, and client and node code pass decoded bytes to pickle.loads without restricting globals. The attacker needs high-privilege task-posting access and the default serialization path; unpickling runs attacker-controlled Python in the receiving process.
