CVE-2023-23917Network attack vector

Remote code execution via LDAP-driven prototype pollution

Published Feb 23, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025

Prototype pollution in Rocket.Chat Server before 5.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through LDAP synchronization. The custom LDAP synchronization passes attacker-controlled LDAP data to a prototype-polluting injection sink, and the resulting evalFunctions property activates BSON JavaScript evaluation. Exploitation requires administrator control of a custom LDAP server and synchronization settings, and successful abuse runs code under the Rocket.Chat server account.
